- MaryLynne Bergener, age 63, wife of Brad W Bergener passed away on Monday, December 1, 2017, at Toppenish Community Hospital. MaryLynne is survived by her children Justin and his wife Celise, Angela and her husband Jacob, Heidi and her husband Jake, and Blake.
On March 22, 1954 in Goldendale, Washington she was born Mary-Lynne Prothero, to Harold Lynn and Maybelle Elizabeth Prothero.
She has twin sisters that are 18 months older than her, Carole and Cheryl.
Mom was extremely shy in her youth, not liking attention, but being the youngest received it more than she wanted. She was extremely fond of her father, trying to be the son he never had. She recounted numerous times of helping her dad with his projects, just waiting for hours to hand him a nail if he needed it. She would make sure to wake up early in the morning before her dad left to go to work to say goodbye to him each morning. At the age of 16, her dad passed away. Mom had the faith to raise the dead, but it was not the Lord's plan for him and he returned home. She told me how she would write messages to God in the snow asking why her dad had to be taken early. Then she was introduced to two elder missionaries the next year. Her sister Cheryl already was converted by the truths of our Saviour, Jesus Christ, and what propelled my mom and grandma was the knowledge of having an eternal family and that they would be reunited with Harold again, they loved the idea of doing temple work and it brought them great comfort to know that they could do sacred covenants and sealings in the temple for their loved ones that had passed on. So they were baptized and sealed for all eternity to each other and Harold in The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Mom then decided to go to BYU-Idaho, known as Rick's then. She got her degree in Sociology and Family Development.
She met Brad W Bergener at a Idaho church fireside. She had made such an everlasting impression on Brad that he proposed after 9 days of their first date. He impressed her of his knowledge of the scriptures and his spiritualness. It took them 3 months after that to prepare their eternal sealing, giving my mom enough time to sew her own wedding dress. They were sealed on March 3, 1978 in Idaho Falls Temple.
They went through many journeys together since that time. Four children were born in their family. They created and grew a family business called Medstar Cabulance and built two homes in Zillah, Washington.
MaryLynne's love in life and drive was God, family and farm life.
A grave side service will be held Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at 11:00 am at Terrace Heights Memorial Park located at 3001 Terrace Heights Dr., Yakima, Washington 98901. Those wishing to leave a memory of MaryLynne may do so at www.keithandkeith.com.
