  	Charles "Charlie" Edward Tibbetts, 86, of Damascus, Virginia passed away on Tuesday, September 8, 2020 in the Johnston Memorial Hospital, Abingdon, Virginia due to Covid-19 complications. He was born in Camden Maine on July 24, 1934, a son of the late Hosea Tibbetts and Alfreda Porter Tibbetts. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Mary Elizabeth Demmons Tibbetts.Charlie was a beloved father, grandfather and brother. He was a committed member of the First Baptist Church of Damascus, an avid fly fisherman, and a proud veteran of the U.S. Army.Charles is survived by one daughter, Melody T. Jones, and her husband, Eugene, of Bristol, VA; one granddaughter, Sarah Jones, and her fianc, Edward Beck, of New York City, New York, one grandson Timothy Jones, of Bristol, VA; and one sister, Joan Brahms of Belmont, Maine. The family would like to extend a special thanks to his neighbors Ed and Dana Craig, Willie Trivett, and John and Kelly Dancer, all of Damascus, VA; and to Jeannette Lear of Swanville, Maine, for providing friendship and care to Charlie during his final years.Charlie will rest in the Mountain Home National Cemetery in Johnson City, TN.
